2003 Scott Valley Season

Celebrating 50 years of continual operation as a ranch, does it make a difference? You bet it does! Fifty years of planning, and working for your greatest vacation ever! That has been the goal and will continue to be our goal. This is our home year round and it is our desire to see that each and every guest has a never-to-be-forgotten vacation.

Travel America Magazine “One of the nation’s most acclaimed family ranches is Scott Valley Resort and Guest Ranch.”

Over the years we have made it a priority to make a great experience for horse lovers and for anyone who wants the most out of life. Fishing fanatics, single parents, home school families, non-horse enthusiast, eco/adventurer, church & youth groups, family reunions, international tourists, people who are novice riders, those who want to improve their riding skills and more. Our vision has been to be the best specialty resort and guest ranch in the industry and to be on the leading edge for innovative services and techniques. We are committed to excellence so that we may continuously upgrade our facility and services for our “Scott Valley family” that returns year after year!.

Good Housekeeping Magazine “One of the best family vacation buys is the Scott Valley Guest Ranch in Mountain Home, Arkansas.”

Guests come to enjoy activities such as our swimming pool (seasonal); the whirlpool spa; the gameroom including pool table, ping pong table, electronic games and more. Volleyball, badminton, tennis court, (equipment is supplied for a refundable deposit), a playground for our younger guests; petting zoo; hiking trails, horseback riding with scenic trails that will take your breath away! There’s an evening ride and a trail ride camp-out for additional fees for those who enjoy sleeping out under the stars. You can canoe through scenic river gorges , not wild river, but never the less fun. We can also arrange for our guests to take guided fishing trips on the lakes, fly- or float-fishing trips on either the famous White River, North Fork River, Lake Norfork or Bull shoals Lake.

Scott Valley was one of three ranches featured on “Live with Regis & Kathy Lee selected from author, Eugene Kilgore’s book, Ranch Vacations.

Summer Season: We have nightly activities such as cookouts, hayrides, an evening on Lake Norfork where we’ll serve your dinner and you may enjoy the beautiful setting. Summer is geared for family activities! We have scheduled rides everyday except Sunday, which is our “get acquainted - orientation day” and the beginning of our week. This is the time when we find out the level of our riders. We have lessons for those who would like to learn more. You are guaranteed a minimum of two rides a day. For those unable to spend an entire week you will need to come in Sunday. (If you want to just spend a weekend you will enjoy it more if you come spring or fall when we have great riding on Sunday.)

Parents Magazine “ No experience? No Problem! Kid-friendly dude ranches put the whole family at ease.”

Spring & Fall: Our main activity is horseback riding (7 days a week), great food, good company and a very relaxing atmosphere. The activities depend on the number of guests and their interests. This is the time of the year that we would suggest for people who are serious horsemen and for those looking for peace and quiet. Sorry, we can’t guarantee the weather, but any season is beautiful! We are the perfect experience for families, but we do have guests that really enjoy our “Adults Only” weeks, which are May 11-18, and Sept 7-14, 2003.

Dress: for dinner, absolutely! This is a dude ranch, not a nude ranch! You can wear your fanciest western duds, you can wear your old formal from your senior prom, however, most of our regular guests prefer informal sports clothes, jeans and shorts. Boots or shoes with a heel (not gym shoes or sandals) are required for riding. A swimsuit and your favorite beach towel are a must for use at the pool. There is a complimentary Laundromat with washers, dryers and irons right on the ranch!

Activities: We aren’t right on a lake or river, but we provide a special service to our sportsmen that love to fish, but want a vacation package the whole family can enjoy. There is world-class trout fishing on the White and North Fork Rivers. For our guests, we provide boats*, pack lunches and for an additional charge, we can set up guided fly, float fishing or over-night trips. If you have your own fishing rods and tackle, bring it along or you may rent them at the dock (on a guide trip all of that is included in the price). A one-day float fishing guide trip for two is $140 and $155 for three, inclusive except for License and gratuity. We will be happy to freeze your fish or if you want, we’ll cook them for you right here at the ranch on “Friday-fish-night!” Of course, we also cater to those catch release people that just enjoy their beauty, kiss the fish and let them go and grow! We also supply canoes*, to those who prefer to cruise down the river for a scenic outing and want to fish along the way. We can make your rental arrangements for mountain biking here on the ranch or water sports such as jet skiing, pontoons, scuba diving and ski boats that are available at the nearby lakes. These activities are available for an additional charge.

Sightseeing, Shopping, Arts & Crafts Tours: some examples are Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes and the Dams that made them, historical Wolf House, Blanchard Springs Caverns, Village 1890, Top of the Ozarks tower, Ozark Folk Center, Silver Dollar City, Eureka Springs Gardens, Eureka Springs and “Home of Live Country Music” Branson, Missouri.

Our Facility is comfortably furnished, air conditioned and electrically heated throughout. Each guest unit is on the ground floor and has a private bath. There are no phones or TV in the rooms, but there is a TV lounge with a VCR and one in the laundry room for those people who cannot go “cold turkey.” Our one and two bedroom family units have just the right setup for you. It just depends with how many kids you’re willing to share a bathroom! We’ve got fine “indoor plumbin!”

You will feel the warm friendly hospitality upon arrival and during your entire stay. We are looking forward to hearing from you and the possibility of having you enjoy your vacation with us. Through the years our guests have become our friends and we place a very high value on friendship. Hope to hear from you soon.
